Our Beliefs

There are certain, foundational beliefs that are essential to the historic, evangelical Christian faith. We are firmly committed to the following truths:

the Bible
The Bible is the inspired Word of God.
It is the only complete and infallible source of truth
and standard of faith.
We measure all thoughts, words and actions
according to the authority of Scripture.

God
The God of the Bible is the only true God.
He created everything that exists.
God eternally exists in three personally distinct ways:
as Father, as Son and as Holy Spirit.
He loves us and wants us to live in relationship with Him.

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is a man and He is God.
He lived a perfect life among humanity,
revealing God and His truth to us.
He died for our sins,
and He rose from the dead.
He is returning once again
to bring all things to completion in Him.

a personal relationship with God
God created us to live in personal relationship with Him.
The only way to enter into this relationship with God
is through placing our faith in Jesus Christ
and receiving the salvation that He graciously provides.

sharing our faith
We share our faith out of obedience to Christ
and loving concern for other people.
Our desire is to see people become
real followers of Jesus Christ.

the church
The church is made up of all who
place their faith in Jesus Christ.
The local church meets regularly to worship God together
and to build up each other in the faith,
and we go out to share the truth and love of Christ.

These are not the only things that evangelical Christians believe, but these are truths that we will not compromise. There are many other truths that are very precious to us but are beliefs upon which evangelical Christians can lovingly disagree. These would include issues such as how one views divine sovereignty and human free will, whether certain spiritual gifts are valid today, and circumstances associated with the second coming of Christ, to name just a few.

These issues are not unimportant. To the contrary, we believe it is appropriate for Christians to study and discuss such doctrines vigorously. But it is crucial that we not separate ourselves because of issues that are secondary and that do not constitute the essential truths of the faith. However, it is also imperative that we never compromise these crucial tenets of God's truth. Everything that we are and do as a church is built on the foundation of the truth of Christ as recorded in Scripture.
