You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses.
Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on others.
2 Timothy 2:2

School of Pastoral Ministry
Throughout much of church history, an essential aspect of the ministry of the local church was to develop leaders. Pastors trained new pastors how to study the Word of God, how to teach, and how to lead and care for the people of God. New leaders learned while sharing in the work of ministry, usually in the same church where they would continue to serve.
We believe that this biblical and historical model is still a healthy one for us today. Church leaders are best trained in the local church by those actively involved in ongoing ministry. Leaders must have a solid grounding in the essential truths of the faith, and be able to disciple others. Those who teach must have a deep and accurate knowledge of God's Word, and skill in communicating this truth to God's people. And our pastoral leaders must know how to lead the church, and establish new churches, according to sound scriptural principles, in a way that is glorifying to God and edifying for the church.
